It was sooooo hot this weekend. I don’t like the heat. But sometimes, as a mom, I need to get over my dislikes and do stuff that requires me to be outside in 100 degree weather. Fun right?
On Saturday, Jack was begging to get out the slip n slide. I had to say no because we just had to many things to do around the house and his room was disaster. So I told him that if helped around the house and helped clean up his room, we would do the slip n slide on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday rolls around and I start finishing tasks I didn’t get done the day before. We were in a heat advisory and was secretly hoping that Jack wouldn’t remember what I said. Then about 3:00, he did in fact remember. So there I was. I had promised him that we would go play and I couldn’t take that back.
Swimsuits on and we headed out to set up the slip n slide. We tried to set it up only the ground was so hard from no rain. Darn, I guess we’ll have to head inside. But Jack being so crafty figured out that we could just use the sprinkler. He is so resourceful isn’t he?
The funny part is that it was working fine until Jack turned the sprinkler nozzle too far and it came off. We went from a nice water spray to an all out geyser! We had a good laugh and I tried to fix it. Then I broke it! I was able to fix it for good and we spent another hour in the water.
We had a really good afternoon, just Jack and I. I’m so glad he didn’t forget about our play date.
