I was a little nervous about how Jack would react to the dentist. I figured it was his first time and it would not go well. I was totally surprised when he had an excellent time.
A excellent time at the dentist you ask? Yep, he sure did. First off, the hygienists were awesome. They kept talking to him like he was a child and not the usual grown up they work on. My favorite part was that they told him each step that they were doing and then asked him if it would be ok if they did those steps to him.
Maybe it was the tv hanging in front of him. Nothing like a good cartoon to distract a little boy. He thought it was pretty cool that there was a tv in the room.
Or, it could have been the bag full of prizes he took home. I swear that they gave him some sort of little toy after every step. He also adored his new toothbrush and toothpaste.
I also have to say that my dentist was so good with him. He came at Jack as a friend and if Jack didn’t want him to touch his teeth or anything, he listened to how Jack was feeling and didn’t push any issues.
His first appointment went so well, that he told me that he wanted to go back the next day.
When it came time for his second appointment six months later, he was ever so excited and he let them do a more in depth cleaning. Not only does Jack feel at ease, but I do as well. His third appointment is coming up and I don’t dread having to take him.
