I’m back from BlogHer. Well, I’ve been back for a few days but I’ve been trying to digest all that is BlogHer.
Like last year, I had a fabulous time at BlogHer 12 and in New York City in general. It was my first time visiting the city and was so excited to go.
I was able to cross things off my must see and do list like visiting the 911 Memorial and visiting Littly Italy. I love Italian food and where I live, our only option is Olive Garden. So of course, I had to eat Italian at three different meals, right?
I don’t think I had the same experiences at BlogHer 12 that other people had. But hey, I guess that’s what makes the conference so awesome, right? I laid kind of low this year. I only spent a couple of hours total in the expo hall. To be honest, there wasn’t too many brands that were on my must see list. Which is fine because as a blogger, it’s not my main goal to work with all sorts of brands. I did learn about some awesome new products which I’m very excited about. I also did win a new Samsung Galaxy S III phone from their booth. Of course, I managed to drop it on the cement as soon as I got home. Epic fail on my part.
I went to the iPhonography session which was awesome! I learned about some awesome camera and photo editing apps that I didn’t even know existed. I tried to attend other sessions, but everything was so packed and the lines were super long. I’m happy that the sessions will be available online so I can listen to the ones I missed.
Most of all, I enjoyed seeing friends that I hadn’t seen since BlogHer 11. My roommates Courtney and Colleen were great and I had such a blast with them. I was able to see much of Manhattan with them and I couldn’t think of better people to hang out with.
Sparklecorn, an official BlogHer party, was off the hook as to be expected. If you could only choose one party to attend, make it Sparklecorn. You can’t go wrong with glo sticks, Unicorn cake and glitter bombs (the signature drink of the night). I probably danced for a good straight two hours. Or maybe even longer. I said this last year, but I find something so empowering about a dance floor of mostly women dancing who are all there for a good time.
Bloggers attend BlogHer 12 for many different reasons. Mine, is more of a social reason with a dash of learning. The conference is my reason to visit places I’ve never been that I probably wouldn’t visit otherwise. It’s about connecting with bloggers, people who get what I do. It’s about getting the chance to pick people’s brains about SEO or other things I don’t understand. I come back from BlogHer ready to hit the pavement running in regards to my blog. Overall, I just have a great time in the company of amazing bloggers.
In case you missed the big announcement, BlogHer 13 will be in Chicago next year!!! I personally love Chicago and have been numerous times. Will I see you at BlogHer 13?
