Since Jack’s been born, I’ve started scrapbooking. The books weren’t fancy or anything, but it made me happy doing it. I would focus on the big stuff like holidays, special outings and his birthday. In true me fashion, I would get obsessed with the layout. Even though they aren’t fancy with lots of embellishments, I still focused too much time on the layout and I was journaling very little if at all.
For those reasons, I’m starting Project Life by Becky Higgins. I’m pretty new at it, I’ve only done a couple pages, so I can’t give the total scoop. But I can tell you that I’m loving it so far.
The process is easy and painless. I bought the core kit on Amazon and it includes everything I need to get started, besides the binder and photo protectors. I also purchased them on Amazon. The core kit includes title page cards, different stickers, page cards to enter the dates and journaling cards. Everything goes together so there is really no obsessing over the layout for me. I can now focus on journaling and preserving our stories. There is so much that happens in our lives that should be documented. Whether it’s funny stories or any random things that happen, I want to have some sort of record.
A lot of people do Project Life along with Project 365. I’m shooting for a picture a day but I’m not going obsess or stress about it. After all, doing Project Life is supposed to relieve those emotions for me.
I also started my book with the month of October since Jack’s birthday is in that month. I normally start his books with his new yearly pictures and birthday party. So I did October, November and December as month in reviews. I’m hoping that my January layout will be weekly and started taking pictures on January 8th.
The great thing about Project Life is that I can add inserts if I have more pictures for a given week. I can also embellish my layouts with extras if I want. Or I can leave it the way it is.
Have you ever done Project Life? If so, I’d love to hear about your experiences.

I haven't been scrapbooking since I was in my early teens, so I never heard of this project life, but it seems like a great tool for those who want to keep a record of their lives, but don't want to spend their time designing the pages. Thanks for telling us about it. It actually made me think that I should start a scrapbook myself. It's never too late! I wish you a great year! Flora
