Our daycare is closed this week for vacation. We are both out of vacation time, so Jack is at his grandma’s house until Friday! I’m not going to lie. I’m a little excited. Does that sound bad? I’m going to get a glimpse of what my life used to be. But it won’t be completely the same. He has been at his grandma’s since this afternoon and I keep wanting to do things I do every night. I wanted to get a plate for him at supper. I keep thinking I better get the bath ready.
But, I’m excited that I can come home from work and do NOTHING! Except on Tuesday because I have class. I don’t have to cook supper. I didn’t buy any groceries this week. The best thing is that I don’t have to pay daycare!!
Now, I hope you don’t think I’m a horrible mother. I love my little boy more than anything. But, it’s nice to have a break. There have been a couple of times where he was gone for a week. Most of them involved me having surgery and not being able to care for him. I’ve been thinking about him all afternoon and will continue to do so. I can gaurentee that I will be calling grandma’s just to see how things are going.
I know he is going to have fun. His Aunt lives just a few doors down. She does daycare in her home, so he will have new kids to play with. When we left, I was prepared for this big long tearful goodbye. I left first so it wasn’t a big scene. Jeremy came out a few minutes later. I asked if Jack was crying. Know what his response was? “Hell no. He couldn’t push me out of the door fast enough.” So, I know he is having fun and that surely does make things easier.

Aw…Enjoy your break! I love it when my husband says, "I'm going to take the kids over to Yiayia's for a swim and visit with my Mom." I'm packing that swim bag as fast as I can, so I can have a little Quiet Time.

It doesn't sound bad and you are not a horrible mother! =)
We have 5 children ages 13,10,6,2 (almost 3) and 14 months. For 2 weeks in August our older 3 went to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Ahhhh. It was quiet and peaceful. We had the 2 little ones but it was still like a little break. =0) I didn't even cry. I thought something was wrong with me. It was like everyone was waiting for me to fall apart with out all the kids home. Didn't happen. I new they were safe and having fun. I got a lot done around the house and was a nice break.
It helped us appreciate the grandparents a little more =) and our kids but it also helped them appreciate mom and dad a little more too. =)
It was the first time they have been gone. . .looking forward to next summer. LOL =0)
